Thrifty Tip Of The Day – Free Chicken From KFC & El Pollo Loco

Free Chicken

Today I saw a long line of cars, at least 20, all waiting on the busy main street before turning off into a lot full of eateries. Upon closer inspection, I realized they were waiting to get to Popeye’s chicken and there were more people on foot spilling out of the door unto the sidewalk.

When I saw all that, I just knew they were giving away free chicken. But no, they were not. It was just a really great deal.

So, I can’t imagine the mob scene that will ensue when KFC actually gives away chicken. On Monday, April 27, KFC will have “UNfry Day,” (what’s up with the people eating two pieces of chicken simultaneously while dancing at this link? and hey, before you get your anti-racist stereotype panties all in a bunch, it’s people of all races eating and dancing, and just as embarrassing) and will be giving free samples of their new grilled chicken at participating restaurants.

And if that wasn’t enough, in a struggle to stay relevant, El Pollo Loco adds to the loco-ness with a free chicken giveaway the very next day, Tuesday, April 28. You can actually get 2 free pieces, leg and thigh, plus tortilla and salsa until 8 p.m.

Whose idea was this, in this economy, to give away all this chicken? I hope they’ve called out the riot police for these events. This vegetarian will be nowhere near either of these places on these days, because it will be utter, sheer madness. People just don’t play when it comes to chicken!
