Ok, since you’re spending so much time on the computer anyway, you might as well get some free phone service while you’re there.

Skype is a great way to call anyone in the world for free.

All you, and the person you want to call, need to do is download the free software (no worries, there is no spyware here), grab a headset  and then you can just chat away to your heart’s delight.
